I have the setup in the subject line. I came home one day and internet was completely down. restarting didn't work and after talking to Asus support. I had to make new 2.4 and 5g networks. I've got them both up and running again, but wifi is slower now. I have Xfinity. I would like details on how to ensure the setup between the two is optimized for speed. I can log into my router easily to adjust settings, but the modem, I can't

If the modem is putting out the full speeds you pay for, then you should be checking with asus support/community on its router.
The modem doesn't do much other than provide a connection to the router. And if its hitting its speeds, check on the router.

there's not much to adjust in the modem.
What speeds do you get hardwired into the modem?

Thanks for that detailed description of the observed behavior and the
LED indicators on those devices.

"I had to do this" usually means, "When I did this, something
improved." It's far from proof that "this" was actually required.

"slower" than what? A Web search for terms like, say:
slow Wi-Fi
should find any number of potential causes (poor band/channel choice,
and so on). What abut wired speeds?
> [...] I can log into my router easily to adjust settings, [...]
How, exactly?
> [...] but the modem, I can't
"can't" is not a useful problem description. It does not say what
you did. It does not say what happened when you did it. Or what you
actually want to do. As usual, showing actual actions (commands) with
their actual results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more
helpful than vague descriptions or interpretations.
If your actual goal is access to the management web site of a DOCSIS
modem, then you might try reaching it at a special IP address,
"192.168.100.1".

"seems? You can't measure it?
