How to change network name?

Hello,

Xfinity has just installed WiFi in my apartment today. I purchased my own Netgear modem. Therefore I cannot change the network name through the Xfinity website. But there are no instructions for changing the name via Netgear, and the Netgear website isn't helpful and there is no way to contact the company. I have a Mac, in case that's important. Does anyone know how I fix this?

Many thanks in advance.

       Which is what?

       Is that accurate?

Are you asking about a name (SSID) for a wireless network, or what?

If all you have is a CM700, which is a cable-TV modem, then you don't
have a wireless network.  If you want a wireless network, then you'd
also need a wireless router.  (Or you could get a modem+router in one
package.  A Netgear model number for such a modem+router typically
    begins with "C", not "CM".)

       It's not.
