Why does the modem keep dropping over and over again
I bought a Ultra-High Speed Cable Modem(CM1000v2), specifically to replace a a modem that had the Puma chip. That modem would frequently, but randomly, drop service and need a reboot to resume service. I have two Netgear routers that have performed quite well, so it seemed like a no brainer to pick the Netgear Modem.
Unfortunately, it has randomly dropped service since I bought and installed it. I should have returned it when I had the chance.
I am using Sparklight cable internet service, for what it's worth. Any ideas before I buy another modem and take a hammer to this one?

Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute them back ON.
