how to connect to my modem through browser
--AC3200 WiFi Cable Modem Router, model C7800
above taken directly from the manual title
It is ethernet wired to my computer. In a browser, I enter the URL, 192.168.0.1 (as per the manual) with id of admin and password, password, again as per the manual for the default, and I get an error message, so I cannot get into the software on the modem. Why is this happening?

Were you not even _slightly_ tempted to reveal what this "an error
message" actually said?> [...] Why is this happening?
It might be easier for the non-psychics in your audience to determine
that, if the text of that "an error message" were accessible to them.> [...] as per the manual [...]
Look for "Factory Settings" (or "reset") in that "the manual"?

I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to be cryptic. There really was no message. The signin just kept repeating and I know it was connecting since it said "NETGEAR C7800". I did check the section of factory settings and it suggested using the paper clip in the reset hole. I did that and it did seem to reset and after the bootup, I tried the signin and got the same result. So I am stumped.

OK, this time after several attempts, I got a screen asking for the modem serial number. I entered it and then it asks me 2 security questions.....my first school and best friend's name. Where did it get these questions and how would a brand new machine know the answers? I answered as best I could (not having previously saved this information) and then got a message, "The information you entered does not match what is saved on the router. Please enter it again."
How could the router have any information saved about me? I just bought and installed the thing!!
