Getting hot doesn't tell us much.
Is it malfunctioning?
How hot is getting hot? These devices generate heat due to the processors in them. Some of the newer ones even have fans on them for active cooling.
The c7000 is designed to run standing up and has plenty of air holes for cooling. Is there anything around it blocking the airflow or is it not standing up?

i put a small fan next to it and have it blowing on it lot cooler before it was hot enough that didnt want to touch it. seems like it is working fine just some times takes awhile to connect to the internet like 2 to three minutes.
- plemansGuru - Experienced UserHow's your coax coming in? If you check your connections page can you post a screen snip of that page?

Ensure there are no line splitters between the modem and ISP service box.
Modems are known to get warm. If your really concerned, put a uSB laptop fan under it.
