Netgear Nighthawk M6 Pro Issues (Overhearting, Slow charging, battery runs out ..etc)
Dear all,
I am writing to express my concern regarding the performance of my recently purchased Netgear Mobile Broadband M6 Pro 6450 device from Vodafone Qatar.
I have encountered the following issues:
Slow Charging: The device takes excessive time to charge, often requiring more than 12 hours to reach 90 or 95 %.
Overheating: The device overheats rapidly, even when placed in a pocket. This results in a warning message and forced disconnection. Also, this raised my concerns about the device. What could happen if I left it in my travel or work suitcase while moving? Could it explode? The overheating message appeared many times. It is a serious issue. I have never noticed such a thing with other products.
Incomplete Charging: The device frequently fails to reach a 100% charge.
Support Issues: I have attempted to seek support through the Netgear website, but I have been unable to register my device. It tells me that the serial number is NOT found in their database.
I have also contacted Netgear's technical support and customer service departments, but they are very slow as a turtle. I have not received a response to my inquiries from customer service.
Thus, I decided to return the device to Vodafone who are currently arguing to give me any kind of refund.
Has anyone of you faced such problems with M6 Pro?

Re: Netgear Nighthawk M6 Pro Issues (Overhearting, Slow charging, battery runs out ..etc)
The device is slow or will not charge to 100%:
-Use the provided netgear cable and charger
-power of the device, remove the battery cover, run a small fan over the battery while you are charging it, it has to recharge while it is OFF.
Overheat:
-yes it gets hot, that is also something i do not like about these products. it is a compact device, but I also agree Netgear should create a better design to transfer all the heat, and should provide a better means of having that heat escape by means of conduction and convection. The device is made of plastic, a very poor conductor of heat. I guess it has to be plastic for the radio waves to penetrate better for the 5G radio, but i think certain areas should be metal to allow the heat to flow out of the 5G and wifi modems.
-in short, there is nothing much you can do here except use this device in a well ventilated area. when i use it in the car, i put it somewhere i can point the car's AC to cool it off. I use a mesh bag to carry it around, not a totally enclosed one. If you have to travel and put it in a suitcase, sadly, i suggest you turn it off.
-no it will not explode, nor will it catch fire because netgear has built in firmware protection mechanisms to shutoff the 5G radio and also charging, when the device is hot. that's why it takes forever to charge it once it gets hot.
-tip: Do not let it get hot. always connect it to the charger when you can. because once the temperature warning is displayed, it will take a long time before the device cools. then you will need to open it and let the heat escape. I agree netgear needs to do some work on the design.

Re: Netgear Nighthawk M6 Pro Issues (Overhearting, Slow charging, battery runs out ..etc)
Thanks for your reply.
I deeply appreciate it. However, I don't find it a solution as according to my previous experience with Netgear Nighthawk products I have NEVER experienced such problems before. I can NOT more around with a fan to cool it or to keep it in the firdge. I find this a defect in their industry. It is better to use my mobile phone hotspot connection than carrying the a nighthawk that overheats all the time.

I agree. New technology. These 5G chips, to include wifi 6 and 6e chips seems to run hotter than LTE chips. Not saying it's a solution. Just saying what works for me. I really hope it works as good as a Samsung phone. Those S22/S23 Ultras don't heat up as much.
