CONTROL PANEL NETGEAR

Hello everyone!!! I am having problems with my DGN2200v4 - N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router. I can't seem to access the modem control panel. The routerlogin.net link takes me to a page that tells me to download the Nighthawk app but I tried to use it from my phone but I get stuck. I don't think the device is compatible. I also tried typing the suggested addresses 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 in the search bar but nothing. I also tried putting the ip and gateway addresses detected via “ipconfig” with cmd but nothing. I cannot access the control panel

Ciao a tutti!

OK. That's why none of the usual ways to get into the router work. It expects to see routerlogin.net or the usual default 192.168.0.1.

Glad you got there in the end.

Is this the only device on your network?

Can you get in with a web browser and the graphical user interface (GUI)

I don't think the device is compatible.

The DGN2200v4 is too old to support the NightHawk app. It is based on a modem/router from 2020.

Re: CONTROL PANEL NETGEAR

Thank you for your message! I tried entering the IP address in the browser but it gives me an error and says it can't load the page. I also tried entering all the addresses that appear with the CMD>>"ipconfig" command, but nothing... Whereas if I put "routerlogin.net" (as it also says on my modem) it sends me to the web page that tells me to download Nighthawk, but as you said my device is incompatible. So I'm stuck in this loop and I don't know how to get out of it. I specify that this modem that I have for 10 years was last configured many years ago. Anyway it works, it does its job. But I wanted to configure it to try to share files through the USB port, and to do that I would have to access the control panel. I specify that I still have the CD that came with the purchase of the modem.

What error? This could be a browser thing. These get increasingly picky about connecting to "unsafe" sites. There is usually a way to get around those "here be dragons" warnings.

Look for the Default Gateway. It is usually  192.168.0.1 on a modem/router.

The CD won't do much. Everything you need is in the support pages for your device.

Visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

That page will also have any software, firmware and drivers for your device, if they exist.

You could try resetting the modem/router, but that requires you to set it up from scratch. If you don't have all the details for connecting to your ISP, you are stuffed.

Re: CONTROL PANEL NETGEAR

Pardon my question, but to configure it, I have to be connected to the internet necessarily. Or can I configure it offline as well?

It depends on what you are doing.

If it is a case of initial set up and flashing the firmware, you can do a lot off line. Indeed, some things are done better that way. Just download the firmware you want to push in to the device while you have on line access.

You can certainly access the GUI offline.

But you will have to plug it into the Internet for the final stages of the setup. That's the bit where you feed in the username and password details that your Internet service provider requires.

This is what I get. I also tried using different ports and different Ethernet cables. But I still cannot access the control panel.

Re: CONTROL PANEL NETGEAR

The Gateway address 192.168.1.251 is not what you expect from a Netgear modem/router. That would be 192.168.0.1.

It is what you expect from a modem/router from another brand. It is what I get with my BT mpodem/router for DSL.

Throw in the extra 192.168.100.1 and I am flummoxed. Where did that come from?

You appear to have two routers or modem/routers on your network.

Those two networks won't talk to each other.

What else is plugged in there?

Re: CONTROL PANEL NETGEAR

Hi. I finally solved it. Probably since I tried to change some settings a while ago I must have touched something I shouldn't have touched. But in any case, I can't explain why CMD "ipconfig" doesn't give me the exact address. I finally managed to find the right ip which was 192.168.1.254 by clicking on the modem's "properties" which appeared for me in the "network" section of the resource explorer. But all this was possible only by noticing an alert that always appeared in the same section. It would in fact say "file sharing disabled." I have never disabled such an option, so I think it was the fault of some Windows update that reset the setting. Anyway, I was able to get the IP and share files from USB. I thank you again for your help
