Configure a WINS server in DHCP settings on Nighthawk X4S D7800
Hi
Can someone please advise how to configure a WINS (Windows Internet Name Service) server to be set by DHCP using the D7800 acting as a DHCP server for my network?
I have firmware version V1.0.0.40 and I have "Use router as DHCP server" enabled.
There does not appear to be anywhere to configure WINS?
thanks

Re: Configure a WINS server in DHCP settings on Nighthawk X4S D7800
Thanks - but I beg to differ with that thread.
There is a level of complexity at the NAS level prior to running a full Windows Server environment. NAS's at home are simple and make sense. Even in the SOHO environment.
Almost all NAS's will run a WINS server out of the box.
Name Resolutions with WINS in my opinion (untested) is that it is infinitely faster that via broadcast or whatever other vehicle NB is using.

You may be right that WINS is faster, but likely only for the initial lookup. Once the result is cached, then there is no difference.
Anyway, you will have to manually configure WINS servers on your computers.
