D7000

I am trying to convert my D7000 router to Bridge mode as my only internet access is via wifi. User manual gives instructions, but guides me to a page that doesn't exist when accessing my router (ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Router/ AP / Bridge Mode).

I have tried to update the firmware (currently 1.0.1.64_1.0.1) but the download file from netgear for 1.0.11.130_10.2.118 does not contain a .img file for the update, only a .chk file.

I cant contact Netgear to advise them that the firmware download does not appear to be useful, or to clarify what else needs doing as the router is beyond the 90 days

Does anyone know if there is another way to setup bridge mode? Is there another file that can be used for a firmware update? Is the firmware an issue with me being unable to find the Router/ AP/ Bridge modw page?

That is a DSL modem/router. These aren't the same as plain routers.

What do you mean by bridge mode? With a modem/router it usually means disabling the router bit and using it in "modem only" mode. It isn't clear from the manual that the D7000 supports that.

Visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

In any case, if your Internet access is via wifi – whatever that means – then that sort of bridge mode wont work.

Bridge mode is also used to describe wifi repeater mode. Again, I see no hint in the manual that the D7000 supports that.

Your version is four years old.

You may be looking in the wrong place. You have picked the R7000 in your footer. That is not the same as the D7000.

Try here:

D7000 Firmware Version 1.0.1.82 | Answer | NETGEAR Support

The support pages have the files for your device. Just follow these instructions:

AP mode and bridge mode are not the same thing. Not all devices offer both.

Where did you read that you can put the D7000 into these modes? AP yes. But bridge?

Of course, you can use the D7000 in router mode simply by connecting the Internet input to the Internet port on the back.

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
