DGFV338 firmware upgrade failed

Hi, I'm new to the site,

I recently purchased a used Prosafe wireless ADSL Modem VPN firewall router DGFV338,

I had this connecting to my ISP then I'tried to upgrade the firmware and received a screen message the the daughterboard upgrade had failed,

I then tried to reinstall the intitial release firmware which didn't produce any warnings

however I still can't get it to connect to my ISP

Is it dead or is there a recovery methord,

I've found the answer to my own question, thought i would post it here for others in the same predicament,

reset router to factory default,

download initial release firmware

unzip  the folder

open the folder for your region

inside is two iso image files, clearly marked as web-main and daughterboard

on router

administration

settings backup and firmware upgrades

the settings backup and firmware page will be shown

click browse router upgrade and select web-main iso

upload

once complete reboot router

navigate back to this page and select dsl upgrade

browse and select daughterboard iso

upload

job done!

now reset all your connection data and you may have to auto detect some of your settings
