Hi, I've been trying for some time to upgrade the firmware in my DGN2200v4 ADSL modem, with no luck.
Have tried to downgrade as well but I still get the same error message
"This firmware file is incorrect! Please get the firmware file again and make sure it is the correct firmware for this product."
To date, I have downloaded and tried:
DGN2200v4-V1.0.0.24_5.0.8.chk
DGN2200v4-V1.0.0.46_1.0.46.chk
DGN2200v4-V1.0.0.46_1.0.58.chk
DGN2200v4-V1.0.0.46_1.0.66.chk
I have also tried factory resetting the device along with tftp2.exe (as Administrator), again, with no success..
LAN connection, Firewall and Anti Virus disabled.
Also tried telnetenable.exe and telnetenable2.exe with no success.
All but out of ideas..
Any help appreciated..

The version of Firmware that was in my modem was from Dodo..
The last post on this link worked....
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1926441
Was finally able to update the firmware
BUT
I did have to re-enter all the information manually before it would work (factory reset then setup wizzard) but it now works and is running
Firmware Version
V1.0.0.66_1.0.66..
Looks like I will also have to modify any future firmware files before installing them, unless someone can come up with a way to fix it.
Cheers.
With this modem Netgear does not suggest loading firmware that is not intended for the modem as the modem was a ISP provided modem that has its own versions of firmware. Do this at your own risk as loading other firmware not fully intended for the product can brick or causes issues.

Is your modem, by any chance, not a DGN2200v4? Perhaps it's a different version? You can see the version on the home screen when you log into the router.

According to the support website, the latest version is 1.0.0.66. Download it from there or from the Release Notes link. Follow the instructions to upgrade the firmware. Make sure you unzip the file and extract the .chk file within. If your file unzipper has the option to verify that it has unzipped the files correctly, you may want to enable it.

I'm not sure why it's failing. Did you purchase this modem or was it provided by your ISP?
