Internet Freezing

I recently purchased and installed a Netgear AC1900 Nighthawk modem / router to replace my provided BT Smart Hub, which provided very poor wi-fi.

Initially the Netgear appeared to provide a flawless wifi connection, however I have noticed periodic freezes on my internet connection over the wifi. The wifi dies not disconnect, webpages just stop loading.

I can usually resolve this by switching between the 2.4ghz and 5GHz networks, which are individually named. Operation will then be okay for a while, but then freeze.

There appears to be no uniform time of day or lapsed duration that thus occurs.

Can anybody shed any light?

Can you specify what is the model number of your router?

I believe it is the D7000, would that sound right?

Have you tried different wifi channels?

 

Maybe a neighbour is on the same channel and your devices are getting confused.

It is set to auto to select best channel. I have also scanned to see what other networks are running and what channels they are on, and there doesn't appear to be any conflicts.

Not always the best choice.

 

Try another channel.
