d6200 is compatible connection fttc ?

Hello everyone

only a courtesy information, can I use the D6200 modem / router for a FTTC (FIBER TO CABINET) connection?

Maybe I will not use all possible connection speed, but can I navigate anyway?

Thanks x the help

It depends.  What does your (unspecified) ISP use between the
"CABINET" and you?  Ask your ISP?

The copper wire is less important than what it does.

FTTC, as in "fibre to the cabinet" (a UK label) rather than "fibre to the curb" (used in Oz and other places), is often used to deliver "DSL Internet". But copper wire might also deliver other technologies, such as "cable internet".

If your unnamed ISP uses DSL then a D6200 should work as a modem/router. If it is a "cable" Internet service then that modem/router will not work as a modem.

Swell.  And your (unspecified) ISP does _what_ with it?

Not really.  Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model
number, and look for Documentation.  Get the Product Data Sheet or User
Manual.  Read.  Note that the DSL modem in the D6200 is limited to
ADSL2+.  If your (unspecified) ISP requires VDSL, then I'd expect a
D6200 _not_ to work.

Still better advice than you'll get from some sources here.  I claim.

Ok.  Now all you need to know is which level of DSL (and any special
features) which they use for your connection.  My money would be on VDSL
(which the D6200 can't do), but I'd ask the ISP, because I do not know.

He also does not know, but that seldom stops him.

The DSL level is VDSL2 of my ISP (TIM Italy) for FTTC ( fiber to the cabinet)  connection.

I'll have to change the modem

Thanks x the help

Looks like it, pity that Netgear's labelling of the D6200 is less than clear.

There is a problem obtaining VDSL modems. They are disappearing from the usual suppliers. Maybe things are better in Italy!

You may be able to get a second hand DM200 and put that on front of the D6200. The you can use the D6200 as a router. (The manual goes into this.)
