powerline adapter will connect to the internet
Hi
I cannot get the powerline adapters to work with my modem/router, amber light comes straight on each time i connect. have tested the lan/wan and all good, wired computer working as does all wifi.
The powerline adapters are connecting to a foxtel box and cannot receive the inetrnet or IP address.
I am not great with computers, but the wiring and connections are spot on.
any help appreciated - going crazy.
thanks
Damien

Re: powerline adapter will not connect to the internet
"LAN port indicator light is amber"
this is normal for a 10 100 connection

Re: powerline adapter will not connect to the internet
Hi klutz99,
Correct me if my understanding is wrong.
Router-->LAN port--> 1st powerline adapter
2nd powerline adapter --> TV box
1. How far is the 2nd powerline from the 1st powerline?

Re: powerline adapter will not connect to the internet
Hi James
Your understanding is correct.
The other powerline is two rooms away, approx 10 meters apart.
The adapters previously worked with no drama with my old modem?
I really do not understand what the issue is.
thanks

Re: powerline adapter will not connect to the internet
When plugging adapter into lan port on router does that port led light up? Is the r7000 in router mode?
This statement is confusing at best "The adapters previously worked with no drama with my old modem" a modem is not a router.

Re: powerline adapter will not connect to the internet
Hi
The model is a D7000, but funnily enough this was not an option to select above, evrytime I typed D7000 the model area above selected "R7000"?

Re: powerline adapter will not connect to the internet
The Lan port lights up, but it lights up Amber which means no connection.
I am also aware that a router is not a modem but the Model selection option above will not allow the D7000?
Sorry for your confusion but I reckon the lights on the "R" and "D" versions work in exactly the same way indicating that there is no connection to what ever device that they are trying to connect with.

Re: powerline adapter will not connect to the internet
When plugging adapter into ROUTER lan port on router does that ROUTER port led light up? If it does light up amber on router IT MEANS a connection of 10 100 is established.

Re: powerline adapter will not connect to the internet
HI
I accept that, but the device is not working, the "Genie" does not list the devices mac or the sat tv IP addresses and the instructions state that a "White led indicates a successful connection", I have amber "not successful".

Re: powerline adapter will not connect to the internet
Hi klutz99,
Lets try to isolate first the problem by connecting the two adapters in just one room where the D7000 is located. Connect a computer to the 2nd adapter and check if it can get an IP or a connection. Check as well the lights on the adapter.

Re: powerline adapter will not connect to the internet
Hi James
I will attempt your suggestions on Thursday, unfortunately away from home at moment. The lights on the adapter are all showing as working: 3 green lights each.
regards
Damien
