DGND3700 PCB Component Specification
Hi all
I have a DGND3700 that's been lying in my cupboard for years. It got zapped by lightning, and I just replaced it.
However, since it's warranty is long gone, I decided to open it and see if I can't see where the damage actually is.
I THINK the problem is with the component in the top right - big red thing, there's two of them, but the one on the left has blown it's cover and the coils inside are loose (white arrow). (I'm no electrician, but I think it's a capacitor - problem is it has no uF or Volt rating on it).
Can anyone tell me 1) What is the component 2) what's the spec? I figure if I can replace it (or rather, egt it replaced - problem is the only electronics guy I took it to reckons he has no idea what the spec is), I can possibly recover what is an exceptional modem/router.
Thanks!

Re: DGND3700 PCB Component Specification
My DGND3700v2 looks much different (no such parts), and I'd need much
higher-resolution pictures to do any serious guessing.

The less destroyed (red) one looks like a capacitor, except for the
part about "coils". The typical construction would be two long strips
of aluminum foil separated by a plastic film, and wound up to form a
cylinder. From an end (axial) view, that might look like "coils".
On the other hand, whatever blasted that capacitor(?) probably didn't
stop there, so my hopes would not be high.
