DGND3700V2 faulty product?

I purchased 3 DGND3700V2's to provide a wifi network across a long house.

One is acting as a modem/router. This one works fine and as expected. The other two are connected by ethernet cables to the main one. any PC connected to the other two via ethernet cable work ok - can access internet and other PCs on the network.

wifi is an entirely different matter. I simply cannot get the wifi networks to work. the problem seems to be that the routers wont let the device get an IP from the main one so it cant resolve an address and so wont connect to anything.

if i reset and reboot everything it may work for an hour or so but them all falls over.

I thought maybe i am making some simple mistakes - but after about 40 hours of trying different setups i have given up.

I tried netgear support but they keep referring me to a "product specialist" who tries a few different set ups but cant get it to work. They have scheduled to call me back twice and neither have happened.

I have now gone out an bought two (much much cheaper) dlink routers and the whole system was set up and working in about 15 minutes - no problem since.

the DGND3700V2s were a significant investment. I think these products are faulty but it seems netgear dont want to listen.

If anyone has an suggestions about what i might be doing wrong that would be great. But quite simply on the other routers I set them to a static IP and disable DHCP. As above this is all it took on the dlinks.

Re: DGND3700V2 faulty product?

I'd be taking 2 of the DGND3700v2's back and getting a refund. It's a easier route than trying to work with Netgear support. It seems that both the v1 and v2 of the DGND3700 have non-trivial issues. The v1 has issues dropping the ADSL connection and not being able to re-aquire it without a power cycle and the v2 seems to have a problem providing a "whole" network for wireless devices. I think the pictures in the top left of this board with the one guy screaming at his screen and the other guy with his head in his hand are taken from typical DGND3700 install experiences.

all devices are connected on LAN should all work. DO NOT plug WAN ports on the unit. It will not work as access point setup. use ONLY one of the yellow LAN PORTS only

rest of setup is like below
http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/965

each of 2 device follow with dhcp disabled and has static IP outside of DHCP range of first router

Re: DGND3700V2 faulty product?

I have tried this several times over.

Tried fixing the ips for all wireless devices (which is not really ideal for me) but still no joy.

Have switched back to he cheap dlinks which seem to go ok.

Netgear support don't seem to be able to help.
