Nighthawk AC1900 VDSL/ADSL Modem Router (D7000v2) - Setting up and installing
Hi,
I am living in New Zealand (vodafone subscriber) and recently bought the above Modem Router. I have contacted the store where I bought the product, but their setup instructions are for an older model and they haven't tested this model as yet.
Could someone please explain the setup ie cables installed at back of modem to make sure I am getting it right. Which cable goes where and then the setup wizard. I don't have a landline anymore and am only using fibre. The setup wizard keeps telling me that there in no internet connection and I need to connect the DSL line. Do I need to update firmware? or is there another solution?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Sean

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Be aware that the D7000v2 User
Manual contains some errors, including in and around "Figure 7. Modem
router cabling for cable or fiber service." The D7000[v1] has a "red
Internet port", but the D7000v2 uses the "LAN 4/Ethernet WAN" port.
You should connect your fiber-interface box to that "LAN 4/Ethernet
WAN" port.
Supposedly, the D7000v2 can autodetect when that dual-purpose port is
used as a LAN or WAN port, but see "Change the Physical WAN Connection
Preference" in the User Manual. (Try to imagine that the Netgear
technical writers always scan a document for "DLS" before publishing
it.)

With my weak psychic powers, I don't know your current firmware
version. The same Netgear support site should offer firmware kits under
"Downloads".
