Porting v3 (NG GENIE) FW on DGND3700v1

TEST_06160039 - 3700v1, fw 3.0.0.5 from 3800B, annex A driver from 3700v1 1.0.0.17

3700v1, fw 3.0.0.5 from 3800B, annex A driver from 3700v1 1.0.0.17

No other changes from build TEST_06132143 except the adsl driver blob from original 3700v1 .17 that is the same adsl driver that I'm using on my 3800B with no appearing problems.
Do a factory reset after flashing, unless you previously did it while running v3 fw.
This build is intended to check if AnnexA driver has VDSL and IPv6 support implemented (for some unknown reasons the AnnexA blob is bigger then AnnexB one: what it contains?).
Webui flashing should work (and also reverting to original .17 ?)

I must repeat that I have NOT tested it because I can't, but the modded version for my model runs fine.

To keep the file secured from standard users I protected it with a password, if you really want to try it and you have experience in fw recovery, then send me a pm and I'll give you the password.

Password schema is the same of the previous image. If you don't understand what I mean, send me a PM and I'll give you the password.

Hey, have you tried using the newer Annex A driver from 1.0.0.20 beta? I'm currently using richud's firmware which uses that driver.

The reason I ask is because 1.0.0.17 doesn't support ADSL2+ Annex M, but 1.0.0.20 does.

How do you enable annex m? I can't find any related option in the webui. Changing driver won't show them up (I think). Do you use telnet? Or richud added an option in the webui?

Re: TEST_06160039 - 3700v1, fw 3.0.0.5 from 3800B, annex A driver from 3700v1 1.0.0.1

It's not in the webui, it's automatically detected and enabled when Auto or ADSL2+ is selected. It was working in 1.0.0.12, not working in 1.0.0.17, and working again in 1.0.0.20 beta.

Re: Porting 3.0.0.5_3.0.5 fw to DGND3700v1

Hi Luke is it Possible to compile for my DGND3800B a 3.0.0.5_3.0.5 with DFS Channels for Europe Country Selection?

I Ask Netgear Support but have not yet an answer from them.

Re: DFS

I think it's a driver level feature. Find a BCM43222 compatible driver that support DFS and we could try it. Anyway this is largely off-topic, and I am not sure about how DFS works (is it the common 'Auto' channel selection option?). As I read on Wikipedia DFS is required in Germany for 5GHz compatibility with weather radars. Seems strange it's not already implemented.

TEST_06171846 - 3700v1, fw 3.0.0.5 from 3800B, annex A driver from 3700v1 .20 BETA

3700v1, fw 3.0.0.5 from 3800B, annex A driver from 3700v1 1.0.0.20 BETA

Changes from TEST_06160039:

- adsl driver blob from 3700v1 .20 beta

This build might support AnnexM connections but it is only a try. I don't know if other richud's patches required to let it work.

You should be able to flash by webui (and also reverting to original .17)

Do a factory reset after flashing, unless you previously did it while running v3 fw and all is still working as before.

I must repeat that I have NOT tested it because I can't (no VDSL, ipv6, annexM,
annexB in my country), but other people in this thread tested previous versions
successfully.

Re: Porting 3.0.0.5_3.0.5 fw to DGND3700v1

Hi all,

I can confirm that I flashed the 2nd version of the firmware and it works OK so far.
I will try the latest one later tomorrow.
I have VDSL and full functionality but no IPv6 because my ISP does not support it.

regards,

Re: Porting 3.0.0.5_3.0.5 fw to DGND3700v1

After upgrading to DGND3700_TEST_06171846_A_D on my DGND3700 v1 , it is working fine ,but now the problem is I am not able to go back to the original firmware , already tried DGND3700-V1.0.0.12_1.0.12.chk , DGND3700-V1.0.0.12_1.0.12NA.chk and DGND3700-V1.0.0.20_1.0.20_Static_PPA.chk ,all are updating fine , but after update router gui shows mixed interface with english and german . I have tried to set it to english but it is not changing ,even it is showing that the selected language is english.I think netgear genie interface is not being removed or deleted during the updation . Is there any way I can remove it and switch back to original firmware. Thanks

Just like upgrading to this new firmware requires a factory reset, so does going back to the original firmware.

Re: Porting 3.0.0.5_3.0.5 fw to DGND3700v1

Upgraded from a V1.0.0.20_1.0.20_Static_PPA to a TEST_06171846_A_D (thx luke) , did a copy of current settings then a factory reset then restored saved settings:
everything works more or less fine.

    I use the English localization
2.4ghz wifi seems a bit better.
Iphone/Ipad Genie app does not work
web gui takes a while to realize that internet connection is up even if the router is correctly online

I had no time to test multimedia stuff.
More to come, stay tuned 😛

This is really interesting news, I was thinking about doing some rework on my dgnd3700v1, I think I am going to test it one of these days.
Do you have/want to share also patches against official release to let people compile the firmware by themselves?
In case of yes, can I get it? I'd like to put some additional software, and I can help with ipv6.

Re: Porting 3.0.0.5_3.0.5 fw to DGND3700v1

I have sources on my desktop pc at home. I'm now on holiday. I have changed only adsl driver, allowed dgnd3700 board id, enabled igmp and ipv6 (disabled by default in annex A fw config), and fixed original makefiles allowing compilation. Patches for this fixes are mainly the same as richud published on his wiki (but I haven't noticed it before spend tons of time sorting out by me :o).
I know you have experience in dgnd3700 fw (leggo hwupg) so you shouldn't have any problems. I invite you to ask for further questions on hwupg dgnd3700 thread where I can better help you. This thread on Netgear forum is intended to collect information about which capabilities of dgnd3800 still works on 3700 ported image (IPv6, VDSL and others) because of original german-oriented development of this fw.

    Try this:

    diff -ur DGND3700 DGND3800B >diff.patch
    geany diff.patch

The you can browse differences in source code between the two firmwares, and find out only a couple of minor changes to the kernel, very few patches to the userland and a brand new html interface.
I bet they sell it as 3.0.0.5 only in Germany because in some legislation take a 1.x firmware, put a new interface on it and rebrand it as 3.x could be considered a scam 🙂

In other words since the sources are (almost) identical, beside having IP6 and fix a couple of annoyances, nothing changed in firmware 3.0.x. I hope the new html interface is cool at least 🙂
