GS105 Switch not working with Sky Q Router

Hi

Bet you get a ton of these, anyway . . .

I'm not a techie, let me delcare that first, but want to learn.

I have Sky Q throughout the house and a Sky Q Router. It seems crazy to me that it only has x2 ethernet ports in the back so I bought a GS105.

Ive used one of the ports from the Router into the switch, then from the switch used two ports, one for Time Machine and one for Sonos. Problem is I cant connect to either. The Router continues to work fine ( internet Access ).

Do I have a compatibility issue, cabling issue ?

The instructions from the GS105 seemed pretty much plug and play.

Appreicate any help from you knowledgable folk.

Cheers.

There are two LED on each GS105 port (the older GS105 had - different from the GS105v5 - some additional indicators) - there is always a link LED and an activity LED. When connecting the switch to the router, the TimeCapsule, the Sonos - are the link LEDs active with the cables plugged?

Don't know if the router has any Link and activity LED for each port - it's not uncommon the makers "saved" the money there however.

The Sonos can cause some issues if currently using wireless and wired network - this can lead to a loop in the network, depending how "smart" the switches (or the switch in the router), and  a post might be shutdown for this very reason.

      Thanks

Looking at the very brief sheet that comes with the switch, the lights above the ports now indicate speed

      2 lights on = 1Gbs

      left light on - 100Mbps

      right light on 10mbs

On the Sonos and Time Machine port both lights flicker in unison. On the Router port only the left light is on.

It could be a cable issue, but Im completely guessing now. But will buy 3 new cables to elimnate it.

      Cheers for help.
