GS108E Duplicate Packets found when pinging
Hi Guys,
I'm getting GS108E Duplicate Packets when I ping my switch.
I saw there was a Firmware Update that fixed this but I have updated it to 2.00.08 and I'm still getting the issue.
I have two of these switches, Both on 2.00.08. I have also factory reset the switch using the little reset hole at the front.
Just one of them is still getting the Duplicate Packets when pinging.
PING 192.168.2.5 (192.168.2.5) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 192.168.2.5: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.984 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.2.5: icmp_seq=1 ttl=255 time=20.3 ms (DUP!) 64 bytes from 192.168.2.5: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.750 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.2.5: icmp_seq=2 ttl=255 time=19.5 ms (DUP!)
The other one is fine
PING 192.168.2.7 (192.168.2.7) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 192.168.2.7: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.919 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.2.7: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.793 ms
Anyone got any ideas?

Hi MrJonny,
Welcome to the community! :)
Based from the firmware version you have mentioned, you have GS108Ev3 switches (v for version). Kindly answer the questions below:
a. Kindly try to disconnect the GS108Ev3 that still has the duplicate packets issue from the existing network. Then, connect a PC directly to it. Make sure to set a static IP Address on the PC that is within the IP range of the IP address set on the GS108Ev3. Open command prompt on the PC then try to continuously ping the GS108Ev3 IP Address. Are you still getting duplicate packets when pinging?
b. Kindly try using another ethernet cable connecting the same GS108Ev3 and PC. Again, open command prompt on the PC then try to continuously ping the GS108Ev3 IP Address. Are you still getting duplicate packets when pinging?
c. Kindly try using another PC then connect it directly to other port/s of the same GS108Ev3. Make sure to set a static IP Address on this other PC that is within the IP range of the IP address set on the GS108Ev3. Open command prompt on this other PC then try to continuously ping the GS108Ev3 IP Address. Are you still getting duplicate packets when pinging using another PC?
d. What is the behavior of the port LED light where the PC is connected on the GS108Ev3 that has the duplicate packet issue?
I look forward to your response.

Thanks for your quick reply.
a: no luck
b: no luck
c. tried laptop via wifi -> routor -> switch
d. what do you mean? it just flashes like all the others do.
Also would reflashing 2.00.08, be a good idea?
Windows does not report these extra responces, but all my linux computers do.
Apart from this issue, I have no other problems with the switch.

Hello MrJonny,
What does "no luck" mean on your previous reply? Does it mean you are not getting a DUP on the pings or does it mean you are not able to contact the switch at all? You can try a reflash followed by a factory default reset again, DUP errors are usually caused by a bad card or bad routing, I think that's what DaneA's is trying to isolate.
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks,
