GS308E - Linked Speed Query

Hi, I have Orbi 850 Router (in AP mode) and 2 satellites as my wireless system around the house. All good.

Now, I have used all 4 gigbit ethernet connections on the back as follows:

1 to Sky box

2 to GS305E switch which has all 5 ports in use and each one states the linked speed is 1000M (all good)

3 to GS308E switch which has 5 ports connected as follows;

Port 1 - in coming from the Orbi (1000M)

Port 2 - Sky Q 2TB non HDR box (100M) - not so good although I understand the box connection does not support gigbit speeds

Port 3 - Sony Blu Ray Player (100M) as about about supported speeds - can be wireless

Port 4 - xbox (1000M) all good

Port 5 - Samsung TV (100M) - not so good although I understand the TV connection does not support gigbit speeds - can be wireless

So, my Orbi says that this is a 100M connection rather than a 1000M connection although the xbox does download at speeds higher than 100M.

The question, is the Orbi stating that the connection to the GS308E is only a 100M connection even though the GS803E states the in coming is 1000M because, 100M devices connected are the slowest speed? and what affect does this have?

Should I put the 100M max speed devices back to wireless?

Sorry for the dumb questions

Orbi - LAN 3 is the one in question (LAN 4 not connected yet)

have you tried testing the speeds on that switch?

Or swapping the cables to see if its a cable issue?

After two massive strokes, I'm reading

    GS308E

Two ports on Fast Ethernet (100 Mb/s link speed)

    • Port 2 (probably the Sky Q 2TB non HDR)
    • Port 5 (probably the Sammy TV)

Two ports on GbE (1000 Mb/s link speed)

    • Port 1 (probably the Orbi LAN 1 or 2)
    • Port 4 (probably the xbox)

Note: Port 3 has no link, so nothing connected or active...

    Orbi

One port on Fast ethernet (100 Mb/s link speed)

    • LAN3 (probably the Sony Blu Ray Player)

None of the three Fast Ethernet devices, Sky Q 2TB non HDR, Sammy TV, or Sony Blu Ray Player can have an advantage if assigning to suspect faster WiFi connection. Still, it's wireless, the latency can be higher or variable, results are random, ....

That's all, folks, lack of any other information.
