M4300-24X24F (XSM4348S) switch: FC SAN
Hello everybody,
I have a fiber SAN storage infrastructure. I recently purchased the XSM4348S switch and can't get this switch to work with FC SAN. Is it compatible ?
I have looked at the documentation but I have not found any information. If it is not compatible, what alternatives does NETGEAR have?

Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, you may not have read M4300 requirements in the datasheet, the M4300 switches aren't SAN switches or Fibre Channel (FC) switches, they're not compatible with the Fibre Channel protocol.
At NETGEAR we don't have SAN switches. I'm afraid we don't have alternatives on the FC side.

Just for the record: If I remember correctly there are only 2-3 manufacturers remaining who build pure FC switches (not speaking about FC over Ethernet or FCoE). While it may look like there are a more FC switch manufacturers, some (mostly server manufacturers) rebrand switches from one of these remaining manufacturers under their label.
