PXE Boot using lacp dynamic (port in indivual state)

We are trying to correctly setup port-channels for our cloud server farm that would use linux with bonding mode=4 (802.3ad). Once installed everything work as expected when using dynamic port-channels but that same configuration on the switches make impossible to reinstall them through pxe or change the bonding mode on servers according to node's role (hpc node = mode 0/6 or cloud node = mode 4)

If we use instead static port-channels all bonding modes work although (mode=4 802.3ad) only sees/uses one active port which is not desirable.

We've been playing with differente combinations of lacp actor/partner admin state (individual/passive/longtimeout) without success. Is it possible such combination with Netgear switches? The switch is in fact a stack of six M5300-52G ProSafe 48-port Gigabit L2+ with 10 Gigabit Stacking, running 11.0.0.12

Other vendor switches are able to cope with this, Juniper EX series using "force-up", Cisco/Nexus with "no lacp suspend-individual" which is the default, HP/H3C as well, specifying lacp edge-port...

So, the question is, is it possible? and if so, what's the configuration for such setup? Ideally we would like they were dynamic port-channels and if the switch/stack doesn't hear anything (lacp bpdus) from the other side to put the ports in individual state which apparently is not the case.

kind regards.

    Hi comunica,

    Welcome to the community! :)

Kindly try to update the firmware to version 11.0.0.18 and it might help.  Be reminded to perform a factory reset on the M5300-52G after a successful firmware upgrade then reconfigure it from scratch.  Here is the link where to download firmware version 11.0.0.18.

    Regards,
