4TB USB Disk

Hi folks,

I have a RN314 with 3 4TB disks installed, in a RAID5 config.
I have one extra 4TB disk in a USB enclosure as follows:
-> Enclosure: StarTech SAT3510U3V 3.5" USB 3.0 SATA Enclosure
-> Chipset ID: JMicron JMS539

The USB disk does not appear on the web-dash when connected. I've connected other USB (2.0) disks and they work fine. I've had a look here and the HCL for USB disks appears to be mostly community based - but not mention there of this particular chipset.

The USB disk works fine if plugged into a windows 7 PC, via USB3 port. It's got a GTP partition table with a single NTFS partition.

Given my USB disk doesn't appear to work... is there anything I can do?! :D

  • Does it make any difference if I post the model of the actual disk? Don't have it to hand but easy to get...

    It's a Seagate Barracuda 4TB something-or-other - I'll dig out the model when I get home.
