Failed to activate encrypted volume

data-0 is the name of the first layer of the MDADM array containing BTRFS volume data. If expansion adds a second layer, it's data-1. So, the error you are seeing says the NAS does not recognize the BTRFS file system for your volume but does recognize the MDADM RAID array. I don't use encryption, so don't know if that's driving it or not. In cases not involving encryption, it is a bad sign usually indicating a damaged array.

Me either, but if you decrypt a virtual disk with the wrong key you certainly won't detect any file system.
If you decrypt a damaged volume with the correct key there might be some evidence of damage in the logs.
Either way, it's not good.
