NV+ and Seagate ST2000DM001-1CH164 failure?
I had 3 of my 4-year old ST31500341AS fail over the past months and had to replace the last one with another model as the 315s are no longer available. Note, that the last ST315 failed without warning or major errors - the ReadyNAS would not reboot (no drive light / act on - just the power light slow-blinking). It did reboot with USB boot and Disk 1 removed.
The ST2000DM001 seemed to have initialize properly when first inserted and the RAID synced. However, the performance seemed to be sluggish and there were some errors in the log. Less than a day later ReadyNAS reported the drive as failed.
I have taken the drive and run the battery of SeaTools tests on it and it passed with flying colors. I have reinserted the drive and it initialized and synced OK again, but the ReadyNAS would not boot afterwards again. It booted as before with USB and Disk 1 removed.
Following are my logs from trying the whole process once again. Could this be caused by:
1) The drive is actually defective? Unlikely, as it is a new replacement, but will check - should have a few more of these coming shortly
2) The drive is not compatible with ReadyNAS despite featuring on the drive compatibility list. If so, can anyone think of any workarounds?
3) The ReadyNAS is developing a hardware problem with SATA communication. Any troubleshooting steps?
I will appreciate any ideas.

- betstuAspirantA follow-up: I have replaced the 1CH version of the drive with a 9YN164 and since have replaced the second of the older drives with the ST20000 9YN). The array is redundant and the system boots.
However, this seems to be the only good news. The system is still very slow and there are a lot of LPCH-ACTIVE still on errors and all drives show a lot SATA resets in SMART data. Not sure what is happening.
Any ideas?
