RNDU2000 (RND-2A) Not Powering Up at all
Hi,
I have a ReadyNAS (RNDU2000, RND-2A) where the HW is totally dead. I have tried to get life at it with no result. I also learned during the process that you can’t take the discs and put in another NAS. I'm not an expert in this area and I'm seeking help and a detailed description on how I can receive my data from the discs. The discs seem to be fine.
I have tried to put the discs into my friends NAS (same model) but when taking his discs out and replaced them with mine his NAS still shows his name on the discs but nu files on. Do we need to do some kind of factory reset to make my discs show up. Is there a risk for loosing the files?
I have also read that it is possible to retrieve the files by using LINUX. Is there anyone that has a detailed description on how to do that?
Please help me to get my files and photos back. I thought this was a safe way of storing files using NAS with two discs in. But what can you do when the HW fails?

The warranty on your ultra is 3 years. If you are the original purchaser and you purchased after 4/1/2013 you'd be able to get an RMA.
If you removed all the disks from your friend's NAS and inserted yours (powered down) then it should have booted up with your NAS configuration and data. You certainly don't want to do a reset.
Perhaps try again, and look at RAIDar's status. It is possible that the hardware failure corrupted the disks. Netgear support might be able to help (per-incident support might be enough to mount the volume, but data recovery might be needed in this case).
