ReadyNAS 314 & 6TB Drives

Hi All,

Recently purchased a ReadyNAS 314 and now deciding on what drives to use.

Now it says that on the datasheet http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/datasheet/en/RN300-RN500-RN700.pdf

that it has total capacity internally of 16TB which means it would take the maximum of 4x4TB Drives.

But when checking the HW Compatibility list it shows it can support 6TB Drives. The only one at the moment being the WD RED WD60EFRX 6TB Drives.

Can some one confirm please if it can actually that the 6TB Drives and that the datasheet just hasn't been updated yet? which means it should be able to take a total capacity of 24TB. :D

That datasheet is out of date.

The WD60EFRX was recently added to the compatibility list.
  • Hi mdgm,

Thank-you for the prompt reply. So that means WD60EFRX is compatibility with the 314 and I can have 4x6TB Drives! yah! :D

If the NAS is used for primary storage I would suggest that you backup your important data regularly.
