D6200 Netgear Genie ISP username and password wrong.
Tesltra told me to call Netgear for support on this issue, but apparently you have to pay for that. Telstra has reset my password, and I've tried to enter the details in numerous times but it doesn't work.
There's a notification in Genie that a new firmware upgrade is available, which I've attempted to download, but it always gets stuck on 'the router is downloading the new version now. Please wait...'
Any idea how I can fix this?

Where are you trying to enter these details?
The internet details aren't the same as the details you need to get into the router to configure it.
Are you connected to the internet?
You can download the firmware for the support pages for your hardware and install from the local copy. Many people prefer doing it that way.

The manual is there too.
