Netgear Armor compatible with non-Netgear Router?
Hi, Everyone.
I'll try to provide all information I think is necessary to get your help (forgive me if anything is redundant or unnecessary; this is not an of area expertise for me).
1. I own the Nighthawk RAX10 router and have been happy with its functionality (since 04/2023).
2. My home internet provider is Verizon Fios (300 up / 300 down).
3. In July 2024, having an internet issue, Verizon told me they couldn't troubleshoot another company's device (made sense), so to "Make sure you are getting the best possible service, we will send you a Verizon router free of charge." Ok, no problem, send it. I received the Verizon CR1000A.
4. My apt is 700 sq ft, top floor of a 6 story building, with similar buildings in the area, no huge obstructive structures to mess with reception (if that is a thing in this case; pardon my ignorance).
5. Likely incorrectly setup/configured/wired (not sure), I had both routers connected, but was using my RAX10 for the most part with no issues (never actually logging into the CR1000A router). But lately, I've been getting poor internet and WiFi issues.
6. I learned last week that I can bring in internet service through the Verizon ONT Box (constant for yrs in my set up), use the Verizon router as a bridge (<- the new info I learned ->), and still use my RAX10 as my primary router.
7. Since I changed to the bridge setup (3-4 days ago), I've spent no less than 4 hours on the phone with Verizon with lack of internet connectivity issues. Frustrating!!!
I would much rather use my RAX10 router because: One, I paid for it, two, I really love the information and control I get in the Nighthawk App, three, I like the Netgear Armor Protection service, and four, the router is more visually appealing (LOL!).
However, a google search indicates that the Verizon is "stronger" (see attached screenshot), likely because my RAX10 is a version 1 and dated at this point. And since the bridge set up has issues, I seems I may have to use only the Verizon router unless YOU can suggest a better alternative.
If I have to stop using my RAX10, can the Nighthawk App be used to "monitor" the non-Netgear CR1000A router? Can Netgear Armor also be used with the Verizon router?
I'm sorry this was so long. I didn't want to have to go back and forth to provide any information you may need. Thank you in advance for any assistance that this community can provide.
