Yes, that can be one use case scenario. You can also use your own mobile devices that can scan the QR code. It is basically a way to see the wireless settings (WiFI name and WiFi password) of your network.

Hi @kingbone99,
Scanning the QR code found on the Wireless Settings tab of the NETGEAR Genie program allows you to connect a wireless device (i.e. smartphone) to the network since it will provide the SSID and the passphrase. The device should have a QR code scanner app.
