Looking for wired mesh compatible with R7800
I currently own a R7800 Nighthawk X4S router which provides inadequate wifi coverage.
I am looking for wired access points that will allow for seamless roaming between the equipment. One SSID, one password, no manual reconnection. The specifications for a lot of the mesh extenders I've looked at seem to connect to the base router wirelessly which I wish to avoid. I would prefer each AP to be wired to router and provide a wifi signal.
I have previously attempted to cobble together various old Netgear routers to create a sort of pseudo-mesh but will often encounter unexpected interruptions when changing floors, especially in my basement. I have various devices throughout my home, mostly Apple products. I would like them to be all connected with a strong signal no matter where I am within my building. Maybe strange but I like to roam around when on teams or VoIP calls.
I have roughly 4 locations where I would like wifi coverage, so I would need an additional 3 wired APs to ensure maximal coverage.
What might be a good, compatible AP/extender for my R7800 that will allow me to roam and seamlessly handoff my device to the best wifi signal?

The R series routers are not MESH supporting. If your looking for something that supports MESH specifically, then Orbi or Nighthawk MK systems all support MESH.

If you are in seek for wired access points only, there is no Mesh system required - as you have no plans for implementing network with a wireless backhaul.
Get the right switch (depending on the performance requirement 1 GbE or 2.5 GbE) and select four WAX214/218 (ensure you configure the same SSID and security settings to allow seamless roaming) or WAX6xx (with Insight management ideally) with the appropriate uplink for the switch elected.
Continue to operate your existing router, or the ISP supplied router for the NAT routing and DHCP.
