How to extend Nighthawk R6700 v3 AC1750
Hello
i have searched but it seems everything tells me how to turn this router into an extender and that's not what am looking to do.
if there is a discussion that already explains this please guide me that way.
I have an R6700 v3. All my cables that run throughout the house are in the basement so I can to put the 6700 in the basement and run all house wiring into it.
Then I want to know what extender I should buy to connect in a couple of bedrooms to extend both 2.4 and 5g networks.
I would like an extender that I can connect an external cable to and that is not a second router. Basically an access point I think. Sorry not very savvy with all of this.
at each room I want to also connect a switch to connect items that need Ethernet cables and also connect the access points to those switches in a couple of rooms. One in the first floor and one in the second floor and the main router (R6700) will be in the basement.
thanks in advance

Does wifi 6 work with the R6700?

It does not (1), I'm not familiar wit the EX6150 (2)

Would a Netgear EX6150 work for what am trying to do???
Thanks much

Have you considered a power line extender?
There are several models. Be sure and look for the features you need (like Ethernet port) on the far end.
- MauriceRojasAspirantI have seen the power line extenders but I do have Ethernet throughout the house so I just need an access point that will work with the R6700 router… not sure what capabilities the access point needs to have to work with the R6700 router… I want one access point on the main level and one in the second level and they will have access to power and an Ethernet connection…

You are asking a lot of an R6700. That's a mid range and now slightly old (2018 with its origins in 2014) router.
What do you want to do on all these connections?

Agree with michaelkenward on his R6700 comments. Replace your R6700 and turn your R6700 into an access point.
Depending on your needs, Netgear makes a couple of plain access points. In the AC arena, look at the WAC124. In the AX arena, look at the WAX204.
- MauriceRojasAspirantOk hadn’t thought of it that way but yes am open to buying a better router and turning the R6700 into an access point if it has that capability… so new to this… WAC =WiFi 5? WAX=WiFi 6? Hard to lay out the complete needs for all the connections but most will be hard wired with Wifi needs primarily for cell phones and gets that bring iPads and some gaming consoles like Switches for the grandkids… outside of that the wifi is not the primary means of connection… all TVs and XBoxes are hard wired… with this in mind which router would be suggested that would be capable of using the R6700 as an access point?
Thanks in advance
