trying to reset my wifi name and password on nighthawk r7000
All I know is resetting a password should be easier than this.
I bought this router in 2018 and never changed the name and password that came with it.
Now I would like to.
I have the nighthawk app on my phone but its not working out. Wifi connection issues it says when I try to submit the name and password reset.
I called Netgear and spoke with someone who in the end sent me this email.
Good Day!
I would recommend the following NETGEAR articles that will provide you helpful information and troubleshooting steps.
Article 1:

Article 2:
URL: https://kb.netgear.com/22697/How-do-I-install-my-NETGEAR-router-using-the-router-web-interface
Every time I try the following url...
routerlogin.net. I get a page that has product photos and that basically tells me to download the nighthawk app. The links sent above I have followed and still can not see a page online that allows me to change it. Ive tried dumoing cache and tried Chrome and Safari. Still I see the same page without the controls to be able to renter a new name and password for the wifi.
Can anyone help?

The Nighthawk mobile application is of very limited usefulness, and none at all in this case as you have found.
A couple of options are available. If you have a computer you can connect to your router via an Ethernet cable, that is your first choice. If not, a Wi-Fi connection should work.
You will need to find the IP address of your router. Here is a reference document. Avoid all of the recommendations to use the mobile application. You will need to dig down to the second or third option.

Once you find the IP address of your router, another option is to use a mobile device with a web browser. You will have to be connected to your local Wi-Fi for this to work.

Be sure that when you reset the router and use a web browser and you see the screeen about using the Nighthawk app to set up to router, keep scrolling down the the bottom of this web page to find a link to text saying that you don't have a mobile device and to click here. This starts the setup wizard using the web browser.
A 10 second press on the reset button in back then release is all thats needed.

I had tried before using the instructions about resetting the router and did. I had thge computer connected via ethernet cable and had the wifi connection turned off. After doing that and clearing the browser cache I still get the same screen with the images and the option/suggestion to download the app (left side of page) or to shop for a router (right side of page)
"keep scrolling down the the bottom of this web page to find a link to text saying that you don't have a mobile device and to click here"
I had scrolled and never saw any link at the base of the screen you mentioned on that https://www.routerlogin.net/ page.
Ill try again to reset the router but I will very likely end up with that same screen.

How do I change my NETGEAR router password or network name (SSID)? | Answer | NETGEAR Support
A previously unasked question.
If there is one it might help if you told people the make and model number of the modem/gateway/ONT that sits between this router and the Internet. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?
I ask because a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting. It can get in the way of your access to things like routerlogin.net.
