MR60 - Router blocking one device despite setup page showing the device is connected and allowed
Hi
Model is Nighthawk MR60. firmware 1.1.7.134_2.0.65
I'm experiencing a problem where only one device on my network is not reaching the internet. The device in question is a MacBook Pro, 13-inch 2015 running macOS Monterey. The device can't reach the internet and cannot reach the router itself. It does receive a message that "This device is blocked by access control in the router." The problem has come up in the last week or two.
I have a phone (and other devices) attached to the network and so I can pull up both the admin page in a web browser and in the android app. I can identify the affected device both by its label and its MAC address. It is identified as connected and labeled as "Allowed" in Nighthawk's Access Control, but there is no network available to the device. I have attempted to change the access to blocked and then back to allowed, thinking that might reset any errors in the router but I still can't reach the internet/network. I also attempted to forget the router and reconnect to no avail. The MacBook can reach the internet on other wifi routers/networks, however.
No other device on the network has an issue at the moment. There was a problem a number of weeks ago where multiple devices were simultaneously blocked, but not all. It was very weird but I chalked it up to my pocket making changes through the phone app rather than any router error as when the devices were all changed back to Allow then there were no further issues.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Be sure to disable any MAC Address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

Thanks for the reply. Not quite sure where you are going with this. Two iPads and an iPhone without any trouble on the network therefore solution 1 doesn't seem to apply.
Solution 2 also doesn't seem to apply, did you mean to direct me to a factory reset of Nighthawk MR60? Didn't see the correct links.

Something to try.
Yes there is a PDF there that you can use to walk thru a factory reset of the MK system.
- drh841AspirantWell, I set up from the start again. Still not sure what the issue was but this seems to have fixed it. Would have preferred to know what the problem was and fixed that rather than scrap the whole thing, but it's all back up and running.

I agree. Many odd things can happen to routers mysteriously. Hard to narrow down or find the actual cause sometimes.
Glad you got it working. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Enjoy. 📡
