Can anybody please help me to reset my router name. The name it came with was NETGEAR29 and that is what we have been connecting to for the past 6 months. Today the router changed its connection name to NETGEAR89 and that won't accept the password that is listed on the device. I am connected to the router right now with a cable, but I want to get it back to NETGEAR29 and the password listed on the device. Any assistance will be appreciated, thanks. Peter

Is that accurate? (Not "R6400v2"?) Firmware version?

Are you talking about the wireless-network SSID? Visit
http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look for
Documentation. Get the User Manual. Look for "Specify Basic WiFi
Settings". Further reading might also be helpful.

Or else you're trying to connect to a different (the wrong?) router.
(Your neighbors might have selected a passphrase for their NETGEAR89
SSID which is different from what you selected for your NETGEAR29 SSID.)
In the User Manual, look for "Table 1. LED and button descriptions".
What do the LED indicators indicate? Did you press the "WiFi On/Off
button with LED"?

I assume that this is the wifi "name" (SSID), and not the label for your router that you see in Windows.
There is support for the R6400, including a manual, somewhere at the end of this link:
For the R6400v2, try here:
>>>> R6400v2 | Product | Support | NETGEAR <<<<
Check the section Specify Basic WiFi Settings. It is the SSID that yoiu wanty to change.
