CAX30 Slow Internet Speeds

Hello all

Need some help please. I recently decided to get my own modem instead of renting one out from Xfinity. I got tired of their XB7. I bought a brand new Nighthawk CAX30 (AX6 AX2700) about 3 days ago from Costco. As soon as it was provisioned by Xfinity (Gig Speed Plan), I noticed the speeds were not there (Only about 200Mbps wired & about 150Mbps Wifi). I called Netgear and they blamed Xfinity (Down Bonded Channels were weak). Turns out it was a bit of their fault. Had Xifnity come out and they noticed that they were splitters on my line and going to other units on my condo building. They put a brand new coax line from my apt to the the box out in the alley. My speeds improved a tiny bit but they are not there yet. When the Tech tested the coax line in front of me, he was getting about 1200 Mbps. But when he hardwired to the CAX30, he was only getting about 250 Mbps. Technician gave up, blamed the router and left. Right now, wired to the gateway, I am getting about 280 - 385 Mbps and about 200 Mbps wi-fi. (Speed tests were done with several devices, Phone, Laptop, iPad, Nighthawk App and the Speed Test tool in the Router GUI) I

I made sure the router is up to date, restarted it several times. The only thing I have not done is Hard Reset it after the Tech left. I wanted to know if there was any other settings I am missing before I Hard Reset it? If I hard reset and is the same result, is there anything else I can try? I wanted to try as much as possible before I spend hours on the phone with Netgear..

Thank you all for you help.

You can try disabling qos, access control, parental controls, and traffic monitoring. then do a reboot and see if it hits full speeds.

If it doesn't, then try the reset.

Yes, I made sure all that was turned off.

UPDATE: I finally did the restore to factory settings. Now I am getting around 550 Mbps. Not the full speed yet, but definitely happier with the speeds.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

    Cable Modems & Routers

Modems are a bit specialist and, apart from plemans , there may not be that many cable modem experts hanging around in this section.

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.
