Netgear R7000 forwarding logs to an email address

When logs are sent from the R7000 router to my email address, they sometimes include the Internet Connected IP address.

Does anyone know whether this IP address is only included in the log because it has just changed (dynamic).

In other words, if it is not included, then there has been no change.

Also, on occasions, the log includes the following line:

[LAN access from remote] from [external IP address] to [internal IP address], [date, time]

This seems to suggest that someone has tried to access some internal equipment, but has the attempt been successful?

All equipment is password protected, but is there any way of getting further information as to whether an actual connection has been established to the equipment?

As a matter of interest, I traced one of these external IP addresses to an American company who had some connection to the 'shodan' project. They said that these kind of attacks(!!!) were simply companies running checks!

Check out this name, it's rather worrying.
