Nighthawk R000 router installation issues
I recently moved to India and brought my Nighthawk X6 router with me. I have internet service through a local service provider and they had installed a D-Link 825 router that was giving me intermittent issues requiring rebooting the router every few days.
I decided I will use the Nighthawk X6 and replace the D-Link 825. I disconneted the D-Link router, powered up the Nighthawk X6 and connected the internet cable from the wall. This did not work and only the power LED lit up.
I then disconnected the ethernet cable, did a factory reset of the Nighthawk X6, reconnected the ethernet cable and after a few minutes, all the LEDs started flashing. I saw the factory assigned SSIDs (NETGEAR65/NETGEAR-5G-1/NETGEAR-5G-2) show up in my wi-fi network settings. I selected the NETGEAR65 network, used the default password and was able to connect. Checked that internet was working. All good so far.
However the internet connection did not persist and though I can connect to the wifi SSIDs, there is no internet connection. I tried to connect to the router using the Nighthawk iOS app but no success.
Any help from this forum to help me figure out the internet connectivity problem will be appreciated.
Re: Nighthawk R000 router installation issues
couple things it could be.
1. maybe the dlink wasn't that bad. maybe it was actually the connection and thats why the dlink and then netgear are both having issues.
2. Maybe its your region settings. Did you change the region setting on the router? Each region has different broadcast restrictions. Potentially the devices connecting to the router are set properly (are they) but maybe the router isn't. Something to check.
3. another thing to check is your power plug. it looks like India's power requirements are 220-240v and 50hz. Does the power supply fall within that range?
