R67000v3 Blinking Amber Power Light

Hello All,

During a firmware updating using the netgear app, i experienced a power outage and upon restoring power to my router, i now have a blinking amber power light. Some reading has led me to believe i now have corrupted firmware. I tried factroy restoring as well as the manual loading of thw firmware. I am running into trouble having my Mac and router connected in order to load the firmware. Can someone help walk me through this? I do not have netgear suport unfortunately. Thank you!

Check this out. Write up about recovering Netgear router using tftp on MAC. Works for any Netgear router.

Thank you for the reply! I tried working through that solution earlier. Kept getting a timeout when pinging the router. I will try again though!

Re: R67000v3 Blinking Amber Power Light

I was able to ‘put’ the latest firmware version (R7000-V1.0.9.88_10.2.88.chk) from my Mac to my router using terminal. After the transfer nothing happened with the router. No change in state/reboot. Still a blinking amber Power LED.

"the latest firmware version" for _what_?  (Also, "latest" and "best"
are spelled differently for a reason.)

"Terminal" is not the important part; "tftp" is.  What were your
actual commands?  Copy+paste is your friend.  "tftp> binary" is a
critical step.  As usual, showing actual actions (commands) with their
actual results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful
than vague descriptions or interpretations.

So, you literally sent firmware for an R7000 to a R67000v3?  I'm not
amazed that that did not work as you might have hoped.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in _your_ model number, and
look for Downloads.  (For older versions, under Firmware and Software
Downloads, look for "View Previous Versions".)  Find the kit(s).
Download the kit(s) you want.  Read the "Release Notes" file for
instructions.  Except, in this case, you'd use the TFTP program instead
of the usual update procedure.

Re: R67000v3 Blinking Amber Power Light

Thank you for the reply. The firmware I had listed above is what was available when searching for my model number. I will try and find the “correct” firmware again later this evening.

I followed these instructions for reference.

I will try and be less vague.

First, "R67000v3" is not a valid madel number.  "R7000" is.
"R6700v3" is.

When I did that for "R6700v3"", I found a link to
"R6700v3-V1.0.4.84_10.0.58.zip", which contains
"R6700v3-V1.0.4.84_10.0.58.chk".

Netgear's firmware distribution scheme may have many problems, but
the firmware image and kit file names generally begin with the right
model number.

Re: R67000v3 Blinking Amber Power Light

So I downloaded the firmware R6700v3-V1-0.4.82_10.0.57.chk and using the ‘put’ command in terminal, sent it to my router using the steps shown in the following link.

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/How-to-unbrick-the-Nighthawk-R7000-using-OS-...

Again nothing appears to happen on the router end. Attached is an image of my terminal session.

Re: R67000v3 Blinking Amber Power Light

Did you soIve this yet? I have the same problem and have tried all the steps found to replace the firmware, I have used tftp to put the last three versions and none of them work. Light keeps blinking. Can ping router with no problem.

Re: R67000v3 Blinking Amber Power Light

Unfortunately the solution I took was sending it to Netgear for a replacement. My unit was under hardware warranty.
