Restore original firmware to a R9000
Found some deficiencies in the feature catalog in this router. Tried the dd-wrt firmware. It works like a charm, but the cloud service using an USB attached disk is too primitive for me. I want to have Netgears cloud service as instigated in the original firmware. So, tried to flash it back according to all instuctions I can find on the Internet. I have used TFTP on a mac and on a PC. I have reset the router by using the 30-30-30 method. And resetting it with the reset button afterwards. And all other resetting methods i could find. I have given the router a static LAN adress and connected to it by an Ethernet connection. I have pinged the router and found it connected. To no avail. TFTP is unsuccessful whatever I try. I am beginning to belive there is a special treat for the R9000? Anyone that kan guide me in a new direction?

The non-psychics in your audience may not know which "all
instuctions" you found where. Which firmware is installed on the router
now? Do its authors explain how to remove/replace it? (That's where
I'd start.)

That's a very terse explanation of how you performed a relatively
complicated operation. It doesn't say what you did, or what happened
when you did it. As usual, showing actual actions with their actual
results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than
vague descriptions or interpretations.
A (non-)description like "I tried something and it didn't work"
conveys no useful information.

Again, no useful information in that.

"the router" or your computer? Which "a static LAN adress"?

I don't know about that, but I do know that I have no real idea what
you have, what you did, or what happened when you did it.

Please, let us avoid an investigation of what I've done wrong. Just give me a hint on how to do it properly.

Re: Restore original firmware to a R9000
The usual advice when someone wants to dump alternative firmware is to ask the people who wrote the firmware.
You won't find anyone from Netgear talking about stuff they don't support. So it is down to other users, and there aren't that many true experts here on third party firmware. But there are forums out there where they chew over these things.
I have glanced at those forums and they are generally OK at providing "get me out of here" recovery steps.

Yes, I know that i should ask the one responible for the dd-wrt firmware. And so I have done. But the nerdiness factor there is so high that you can't get anything useful out of them. There comes only sets of acronymes. And since I am what you might call a hyponerd, I do not understand what they are saying. At least that is my conclusion, because trying to follow their instructions leads me into a cul de sac.
Now I am up for buying a support contract from the Netgear support center. Cost me about 90$, but it might be worth it.

I hope you got that from the right place.
Netgear itself does not provide paid for support. It farms that out to GearHead Technical Support.
If you called a number you found on an internet search it is almost certainly a scam.
