AX8/RAX75 Readyshare - shared network folders and device names deleted every reboot

Firmware Version V1.0.1.64
After every reboot, the network folders and assigned share names of attached USB devices are lost.

Details (case 1):
1. in the menu USB STORAGE / ADVANCED SETTINGS / CREATE NETWOK FOLDER I create, name and save shared network folders on the attached USB3 external disks.
2. The shared folders are visible on e.g.Windows 10 PCs and can be mounted, data can be transferred to and from the shared folders.
3. After router reboot, the shared folders are gone from the router setups, and are no longer visible in the network.

4. Recreating the shared folder prompts the error "This share name has already existed, please select another one".

Details (case 2):
1. In the menu USB STORAGE / SETTINGS / EDIT I change and save the share name of an attached USB3 external disk (e.g. from the default 'S_Disk' to 'Movies').
2. After reboot, the modified device share names are no longer listed in the router setups and the devices are not accessible under that name in the network. The devices are listed again under a default name.

Note: a firmware update is no solution: together with Netgear support we tried to update recently to 3 newer firmware versions without success (.70 .76 and .88), the newer version caused so many malfunctions, that the level-2 support agent advised to downgrade again to .64

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Do you know a solution that worked for you?

Thanks.. any helpful suggestion is welcome!
