Had issues with my RAX80, so under warranty I replaced my defective unit.
Hello,
I purchased a RAX80 Nighthawk router after my previous R7000 went bad. Made the purchase les than a year ago, hoping to get an upgrade from the R7000. The RAX80 had vastly underperformed and did not exceed my expectations. I was faced with muliple issues since the first few weeks, but I managed to wait it out for a while (because I had a lot of trust in Netgear products). After a few months I started to realize the unit might be defective after various hardware issues. There was even days where there was no wifi at home, and having family member work from home, that was just unnacceptable for a new router.
After contacting Netgear we were able to get a replacement unit. Only issue is it is a refurbished model. Now, I know refurbished doesn't automatically mean this is "bad" unit or anything, but given the circumstances... I don't want to be left hanging out to dry when the warranty runs out in a few months. It sounds ridicoulous to be in this situation with a brand new $400 router. What can I do? Do I have any options here? Should I bite the bullet and just purchase a different router?

I don't know. Can you read the warranty? Which part of the
following was unclear?:
[...] NETGEAR will replace your product with the same or
functionally equivalent product, at its discretion, [...]

How would a non-refurbished unit improve your situation? Your
original unit was non-refurbished. How well did that work for you?

Why? Is there one on the market with a free, perpetual ("unlimited")
warranty? Normally, an insurance policy costs money.

I recently found a 1952 Buick owner's manual in a used-book store.
The warranty limit was 90 days or 4000 miles. Change the oil every
2000-3000 miles. Count your blessings?

Do you have a problem that needs fixing?
If so, you have posted your message in the section of this community given over to Nighthawk WiFi Routers. (This is easily done, given Netgear's complicated community structure.)
Many questions apply to different types of device, so you might get responses here, but you might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your hardware, in the appropriate section for your device. That's probably here:

Well, I tend to stay away from refurbished electronics in general, as I have a bad track record with them. It's not for some mundane reason, as a consumer I would like to have some faith in the products I purchase. Yes, my original unit was defective... that happens. I understand that. I'm just worried about the integrity of this refurbisehd model. As for asking if I should purchase another router, it seems many others have problems with the Nighthawk RAX80. Nothing to do with trying to get an upgrade in warranty lol. More so if I should take preemptive measures so I don't have to deal with more issues. Apologies if you feel like I have some "entitlement" as a consumer for purchasing a brand new $400 router and having problems in the first few months.
