NOTE: Nighthawk app or the routers web page may not report seeing new FW updates. NG may not push this to there auto update services immediately and may activate the newer FW update being seen on there auto update services at a later time. User will have the choice to manually update if you want too.
To Manually update FW on the router if this isn't seen on the routers web page:
NOTE: Use a wired PC and web browser to update router FW. If continued problems are seen after a FW update, it's recommended to try a factory reset and setup from scratch with out loading any saved configurations from backup files.
Do NOT load a backup configuration file. Access to routers web page returns. Then go back in and make a new backup configuration to file after the router is set up from scratch.
I also saw this issue with my RAX50v2 after updating to v.28 FW. A factory reset and walk thru the Setup wizard solved it and I got access to the WEB UI on the router using MS Edge. Users can revert to prior working version of FW as well.
If this fails for you, then you'll need to contact NG support and have them help you out.

Um, was this version of FW seen but the routers Auto Update feature?
Far as I know and can find, this new version is ONLY for the RAX50v2 model. I looked and didn't see anything for all other v2 model RAXs. Just the 50 series.

I In the past the RAX50v2 and the RAX54v2 firmware has been interchangeable. I have received beta firmware to help me and Comcast resolve and IPv6 issue that was labeled RAX50v2. Anyway it seems to be working fine with the additional benefit of increasing my Wi-Fi speed. Near the router before the update my speed was in the mid 600Mbps and now it is in the mid 800Mbps. My wired speed can go up to 940Mbps.
In the past the RAX50v2 and the RAX54v2 firmware has been interchangeable.
Netgear's firmware update system has its defect, but it usually protects people from trying to apply the wrong firmware to a device.
If it see something it does not like and that might cause damage – such as V2 firmware being written to V1 hardware – it usually throws up its hands, complains that it is the wrong version and refuses to proceed.

I updated the firmware today (10Feb24) and I can no longer log into the router from any of my computers. However, I can access it through the Nighthawk app. I am getting the same error. It was fine in the previous version.
I don't want to go back to factory mode, there is an alternative to revert the version but I can't enter.

I found if you disconnect the modem you can login with no internet connection. Then simply go to the support download page and manually update back to 1.1.3.18. I have no idea why this is happening and have tried everything under the sun factory restarting router and modem in different orders to no avail. I cannot login via PC nor app. There is a new feature being added under Advanced, Security called Protection Engine and have tried disabling it but still no workie. I'm running the updated firmware now and just disconnect if management is needed which isn't very often but pisses everyone in the house off ; ) Hope someone realizes what is wrong and they release a hotfix soon. That can be happen when the RAX50v2 router sees a modem/router as the connection to the Internet. The RAX50v2 then gives itself an IP address that avoids conflict with the modem/router. A consequence of that is that the usual login addresses get confused and won't work.
By going straight to the router, with nothing else in there to confuse the IP addresses, you avoid that problem.

You shoulsd be on the new firmware since it resolves security issues. What worked for me was to power cycle the router and then I was able to access the router menu.

For users seeing a Access Denied message after the FW is loaded and processed by the router, users will need to press the reset button in back for 10 seconds then release. Walk thru the setup wizard with a wired PC and web browser at 192.168.1.1 resolves this issue. No saved backup was loaded. All Set up new from scratch. Access to routers web page returns. Then make a new backup configuration to file.
We've notified NG about this. It's all in there hands. They'll need to fix it. Nothing else can be done here in the forums.
We can only provide troubleshooting steps and work around solutions to issues found here in the forums. Users can take the information or leave it. Users have options to use the work around or downgrade FW back to last working version.
Users are encouraged to contact NG support and let them know the problems they are seeing and if the troubleshooting and work around solutions don't work for them.
Ng doesn't publish when there getting ready to release new FW so you'll need to keep and eye on NGs support site or here in the forums and check for new versions.

There are several ways of interpreting that. If it mean "don't load a backup", has anyone tried restoring a backup after a reset with the new firmware?
I know that this is usually recommended after someone resets because they have broken firmware, but in this case the update did the breaking.
What happens if someone restores known working setting from some time before the update and reset?
Some people have carefully constructed settings that could take some time to restore manually.
It would take only a few minutes to restore a backup and see if the login issue reappears.
I haven't seen reports that it is essential not to restore pre-update settings. Maybe they got lost in what has turned into a messy set of conversations.

Had a thought of doing another factory reset and doing the startup config from the app and bingo, now management via PC and the access anywhere side of the app works but not the local. Why wouldn't I be able to login to my router locally? I can get into it via browser on my Wi-Fi. Super weird.
