Nighthawk RX40 5G issue (Version V1.0.3.64_1.0.1)
I have major issue with 5G,
1. It keeps disappearing in SSID list when \I am away from the router and then apepars.
2. When SSID is present and I am connected, I can see connected but no internet.
3. Sometimes when connected the speed drops 20 2 Mb/s with lots of latency for download. When I use other rotuers or my old virgin Router, I get minimum of 100 mb/s with the same distance away from router.
The only solutionis rebooting the router and that is annoying as some of devices connected to 5G stop working while I am away from home.

what modem are you connected to?
when you updated the firmware, have you tried a factory reset and re-install?

Re: Nighthawk RX40 5G issue (Version V1.0.3.64_1.0.1)
Hi Pelmans;
I have virgin box set as modem mode and connected the netgear as main router and Wifi access.
1. I can confirm the latest version
2. I can confirm reset to factory default and re-confirm everything again.
Thanks

Re: Nighthawk RX40 5G issue (Version V1.0.3.64_1.0.1)
have you tried downgrading the firmware a version, factory resetting, and re-installing?
the RAX devices are the newest devices. maybe yours has a bug.

The RAX should still be within warranty. have you opened a case with netgear?
click mynetgear at the top. register an account and your device.

I have bought it in September 2019 and I think the supoprt is for 90 days only not 12 month as I recall (Correct me if I am wrong).

support is 90 days but you do have a 1 year warranty (2 years in some regions) from date of purchase.

Are you saying that I should arrange for reaplcement.
this is the only option I have as 90 days support is expired and only 12 month warranty is left.

I would. you've tried upgrade/downgrade/reset/re-install/change cables.
If you had a different router around you could test to see if everything works fine with the old one.

Re: Nighthawk RX40 5G issue (Version V1.0.3.64_1.0.1)
I have my virgin router and that was ok.
I moved the netgear to get the range extended further as it was advertising for it.
It is such shame that netgear does not do on-line troubleshooting to resolve it.
I dont want to sent my router which is new and get some re-furbished unit with the same issue if it firmware issue.
I did a test this morning by sitting next to router I was getting 1 MG on 5G of my phone which is samsung S10 Plus.
while I have 220MB download and 21MB upload.

Re: Nighthawk RX40 5G issue (Version V1.0.3.64_1.0.1)
Once again I have reset to factory defualt and only changed the IP ranfe from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.1.
it looks stable for past 2 hours.
What I noticed is that as soon as I change the name of SSID and password, the issue with wifi starts 5G wont work eventhough I have full coverage. (Screenshot attached)
it seems to be there is an issue with software of the router.
Does anyone knows how to share this information with Netgear support since it is software related (I have passed my 90 days free support) and it is pointless to replace the hardware.
