No WiFi access with Be6500 WiFi 7 Router after connecting Honeywell Gateway

December 22, 2024

NetGear Nighthawk Be6500 WiFi 7 Router issue.

Recently purchased this unit to replace a four (4) year old Nighthawk AC1900 Smart WiFi Router Model R7000 that failed after connecting a Honeywell RED Link Gateway to communicate with a newly installed HVAC system complete with Honeywell Prestige Touch Screen Thermostats, model THX9421R5012.

I replaced the R7000 unit with the Be6500 WiFi 7 unit, December 20, 2024. I connected the Honeywell RED Link Gateway to the Be6500 WiFi 7 router also on December 20, 2024. It took a while for the router to accept the Gateway but I was finally able to communicate with the thermostats, until this Sunday morning, December 22.

This morning the router would not or could not connect to our laptops. I could not access the internet to connect to NetGear’s app via laptops. My mobile telephone as able to connect to app via the telephone system.

Does anyone know if Honeywell’s Gateway is not compatible with NetGear’s hardware or software?

If so, do I need a different HVAC control panel for communicating with the thermostats or different thermostats. The previous router, Model R7000, never obstructed WiFi communication while allowing access to the HVAC system.

These things usually track back to the devices that are trying to connect to your router. All that the router does it to push out wifi and Ethernet connections. Everything else then pick up the baton.

You laid down what you see, but there isn't enough detail in there to allow diagnosis of likely problems.

You could start by providing a few more details of how the Honeywell kit is supposed to work, and what you have done to ask them for help.

What is this Honeywell RED Link Gateway? The "gateway" word often means something that is a router in its own right. If so, it is not surprising that other routers have a hard time on your network.

The issues with the R7000 should have been a red flag. If that couldn't work, there was a good chance that other things would have problems.

Then there is this:
