Beyond frustrated with Brother MFP (Printer) connectivity to ORBI Mesh

Hello all,

I have the new ORBI WiFi 6E Mesh network.  Everything is hooked up and working great, EXCEPT my Brother MFP Printer.  Actually I have two Brother MFP Printers, (different models) and both have the same issue.

All Printers and Mesh is up to date with regards to firmware.

My issue is that I can connect the printer to my home network, and all devices see the printer.....temporarily.

All of a sudden, randomly the printer is not seen by our iOS devices for AirPrint, and my computers see the printers but they are noted to be "offline."

I check my router on my mesh and it shows both printers connected to the 2.4 gHz network.  But still printers are noted to be offline.

Interestingly I can hit the wifi button on the Brother printer (down arrow on the front printer panel) and I get the option to "reconnect."  I reconnect and the printer shows up again for use - temporarily again.

Rinse and repeat.

I have tried the following.

Connected to my main network as well as my IoT network.  No change.

I have reset Printer network settings and reconnected.  No change.

I have reserved the IP Address that my printer is on.  No change.

I have disabled AX features on the 2.4 GhZ network.  No change.

I have changed the sleep timer on the printer to an hour - No change.

Im not sure what else to do.

I do not have the option of using USB as the printer is located in a room where a work/corporate computer has restrictions not allowing the printer to be shared on a network.  So that one computer can connect via usb but no other items in the home can share it.

And where the other computers are, there is no room for a printer.

Finally these printers do not have wired ethernet connectivity.  Just wireless and usb.

I'd appreciate any possible solutions.

Sorry about your printer problems.  I have 3 MFPs in my house and fortunately they seem okay with my Orbi AXE network. Airprint is always iffy but your networked computers should have reliable printer connectivity.

I think you should at least disable and turn the Brother printer's Sleep mode to off vs. set to any time at all (like an hour).

I would also suggest experimenting to set CTS/RTS Threshold to 2347 (which I found maximizes compatibility with older wireless devices) and seeing if it helps, but your latest Orbi firmware may have removed that from orbilogin.com's Advanced Wireless settings.

This link suggests turning on IPV6 solved some Brother printer disconnects.  You can try enabling IPV6 for your printer and Orbi.
