From U-Verse to Vyve - What to do?

After being a U-Verse subscriber for many years, I moved to another house and changed my internet provider to Vyve.

With that move, what changes from the Orbi end of things? Previously to run my Orbi with U-verse I had to set it up as an access point and change another setting or two. Do I change these back now or is there a way to factory reset everything? What do I do now that I have a different Internet service provider that I believe opens up the freedoms to fully access Orbi?

Glad you got it working. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Re: From U-Verse to Vyve - What to do?

What Orbi model system do you have?

Try Orbi with the new ISP modem?

Does the new ISP modem also have a built in router? If so then leave Orbi in AP mode.

If not, then you could change Orbi back to router mode.

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Re: From U-Verse to Vyve - What to do?

I have the AX4200 WiFi Mesh System (RBK753) with 2 satellites.

One Eero router was installed to the modem. Assuming Orbi is a better product (and since I already have the router + 2 satellites), I am going to replace the Eero.

How and at what point do I change from an AP to Router?

Re: From U-Verse to Vyve - What to do?

Most CODA models are gateway modems, thus built in routers:

This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
Try option #2 first...

Gotcha. Been through that process before with AT&T!

So when the installer set up the eero, he must’ve set it up as an AP? It was working great … just not reaching all ends of the house.

30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR📡 and RBS🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

Re: From U-Verse to Vyve - What to do?

Odd. I plugged the eero back in just to see what would happen. It worked like a charm!

What in the world?! The Orbi connects but doesn’t seem to emit wi-fi

Might try a full on factory reset and setup from scratch...

Re: From U-Verse to Vyve - What to do?

That did the trick!

In checking the Speedtest speeds, I noticed an oddity of sorts. The wi-fi in the upstairs playroom provided almost 600+ mbps. However, the office downstairs (and closer to the router) provided only 300 mbps. Both of the rooms in question had a satellite. Is this because of satellite placement?

Yes most likely.

Moving the satellite helped. I might even toy with eliminating it. Thanks for your help!!
