Orbi RBK753 wifi 6 mesh running through an Arris DG3450, moving from Eero B010001 and strange issue

I just installed an Orbi Wifi 6 mesh to replace a mesh (or extender - Eero B010001) that I had installed and was renting from my internet service provider.  My ISP is where my router (or gateway i think) came from and is an Arris DG3450.  The Eero i had still didn't cover the house so i went for the Orbi upgrade.  So I set up the Orbi and left the Eero running so that my family and home still had a network to access.

My question - When i unplug the Eero mesh my internet connection drops from the Orbi?  When i plug the eero back in, the orbi comes back online.  The eero and orbi are connected to different ports on the back of the Arris router.  I've swapped all the connections on the ports and the same thing continues to happen.  Our entire house is now running on the orbi and I would like to get rid of the eero and return it to the ISP.  Looking for advice on how to get the Arris router and the orbi to work together without the Eero being active.

Its because the arris is a modem/router combo device. It causes a double nat.

A double nat happens when you cascade more than 1 router.

Fixes? There’s 3 options but only use 1.
1. Put the modem/gateway in modem only/pass through mode. This disables its routing functions.
2. Leave the modem/gateway in router mode but put the Netgears IP address into its DMZ. This forwards the data to the netgear. You can either leave the modem/gateway’s wireless enabled or disabled. Just make sure its using a different wifi channel to prevent interference
3. Put the Netgear into access point mode. This disables its routing functions. Wifi/ethernet still works but it does disable some features.
