RBR 750 gives message of can't connect to this network

We have a RBR 750 with 2 satellites. I have recently switched jobs and received a new HP Z Book. I can connect to our ATT&T wifi with the new computer with no issues, but when I attempt to connect to our ORBI I get the message "can't connect to this network". All of our other devices connect fine, and both satellites are connected to the base, and the base is connected to the internet. My office is upstairs along with one of the satellites. I have tried being in close proximity to the router and still get the same message. Everything is up to date according to the app as well.

Thanks for your help.

Re: RBR 750 gives message of can't connect to this network

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Try option #2 first...

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

HP Z Books run Windows.  What does the Windows Network Troubleshooter say about this?

It is not clear (to me) whether this message:

  • This message comes from the router, "I am rejecting your attempt to connect", or
  • This message is reported by Windows.

Can you attach a screen shot?

I was just now able to connect, I think it had to do with something in Cisco. As soon as I entered the pw there it linked right in.

Re: RBR 750 gives message of can't connect to this network

House is about 3900 sqft. The 1st satellite i sin the master bedroom roughly 40+ feet away, the second satellite is upstairs at probably 60+ feet away.

I believe it may have been a Cisco issue of not logging on through that program on my computer. As soon as I did that I could get in. It was kinda weird as I've always been able to login through the available networks in settings.

Ok sounds like you got it fixed. Keep that in mind.

Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
